Why is it so hard for me to drink 8 glasses of water everyday? Here’s a little reminder to go hydrate!

Went to the Korean War memorial this weekend in Washington D.C. to pay tribute to Niko’s grandpa who died fighting as a pilot and was never found. 1200 US soldiers were killed in action and their bodies were never recovered. Thank you for your service. Your life and your heroism will not be forgotten!

The air has been so dry lately I’ve been misting my plants to slow the loss of water through leaves. But make sure you’re misting houseplants from below so that the moisture settles on the soil and drain down to the roots where it can be utilized by the plants. Misting from above can promote fugal and bacterial infections! Happy misting y’all!

Happy day of thanks! I feel so blessed to have a loving family, supportive friends, and an incredible circle of people that encourage me to be better everyday. Hope you all spend your thanksgiving surrounded by the people you cherish and “gourd”-ge yourself with yummy food ;)

A post to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

He died this day on 1968, speaking out for the injustices of colored people. It’s crazy to think that even after 52 years, blacks still are subjected to unfair treatment and demoralizing racial slurs. MLK’s “I Have a Dream” eloquent speech is one that will be remembered forever, and is one we should recall every year to remind ourselves the gross injustice that colored folks have endured— being forced to work as slaves, stripped of their human rights and are still being tormented from generations of racial inequality that have twisted their image and have set them back.

Shoutout to all the badass women out there. Happy national women’s day!

It’s a wild wild world out there…

This was my submission to Illo’s Open Call. It was an honor to be the winner of this amazing event and see my work in the streets of Turin, Italy as a part of the @graphicdaystorino exhibition.

The “Say it, wear it” open call was a collaborative project curated by the ladies from illo.tv as a part of the @ladieswinedesign initiative, a series of events inspired by NYC designer, Jessica Walsh, with the aim of empowering women working in the creative business. Designers, illustrators and artists from all over the world entered this contest to express their point of view on what they think women empowerment would look like on a fabric piece. The design was meant to work as a pattern.

My submission was based on the shape of a mandala, which symbolizes a deeper connection with the self and the universe at large. With interweaving figures of women linking arms and holding hands, the figures create a flower-like ornament, to illustrate women’s potential to grow and flourish like a flower. An empowered woman believes in herself, her strengths and her capabilities to make her dream her reality, while also using her strengths to encourage and empower others. When we as women encourage and support each other, we can rise stronger, braver and prouder than ever before.

For each petal on a four leaf clover, I wish you all good health, good luck, happiness and success! Happy St. Patrick’s day!

Oh ho ho! It’s that time of year… where we revel in the holiday spirit by escaping the frigid winter air with a cup of hot cocoa and a warm fire. While California isn’t blessed with snow in the winter months, it’s still so cozy to sit by the fire and get all toasty. Sadly, I also don’t have a fireplace so I’ll just pretend like I do while watching these amazing yule logs by artists around the world! My roommate’s french bulldog is the funniest, derpiest, chubbiest little thing. Is it Mason or a potato?

I did some crazy cleaning this past weekend and it’s just so satisfying to see a clean nightstand void of any empty water cups, bobby pins, and hair ties. Just so I can revel in this moment, here’s a little illustration to give you a glimpse of my perfectly organized nightstand. Also, I highly recommend anyone reading this to go and buy hue lightbulbs because it’s freaking awesome when you don’t have to reach to turn the lights off!
